History

http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Connor_Guerrin

Origin to Inquisition: The Hero of Ferelden freed Connor of his possession by the Desire demon, and he was sent to the Circle of Magi not long after the Hero and company defeated the Blight. He's still in contact with some members of his family, particularly his Uncle Teagan. His relationship with his mother is strained, to put it mildly, and he writes her infrequent, terse letters.

He lived in the Circle for a decade and - though his fear of demons (and himself) held him back in many ways - he went through his Harrowing at 17 and survived, becoming a full-fledged mage. He was firmly in the Loyalist camp when the uprising in Kirkwall split the Circles apart. Not it mattered. Nobody cared what he thought. Even though he didn't support the rebels, he joined them in Redcliffe, thinking he might somehow protect the villagers from whatever disaster seemed imminent. When the mages were recruited into the Inquisition he eagerly swore himself to the cause once he'd arrived in Haven. It called to his faith as an Andrastian but, more than that, he felt he had no better options. The recent death of the Inquisitor has taken even that away, so he's mostly hanging about Skyhold trying to figure out what in the world to do with himself.

Personality

Connor has lived a life that's at once sheltered - between his father's castle and the Circle - and touched by intense darkness. He holds himself responsible for the deaths of each village killed in Redcliffe while he was possessed by the demon. That guilt has made him both afraid of his own powers and determined to make himself strong enough never to fall into the sway of a demon again. He holds attitudes that most rebel mages consider "conservative" (he wants the Circles restored, and he thinks the templars have their place in keeping mages from succumbing to the temptation of Blood Magic and possession). He finds comfort in his faith on a personal level, but is unsure if the organized Chantry has a place for mages among the flock. Mostly, he's a quiet, bookish young man fumbling about for his place in the world, not unlike a lot of 20-year-olds.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Connor gravitated toward study of magic he deemed "good," or at least spells that didn't have a high capacity for harm. This naturally lent itself to an interest in healing magic, at which he's quite skilled given his age. He's also a decent hand with defensive Barriers and Dispelling spells directed against him or his allies. He's learned a decent amount about tonics poultices and can whip those up in a pinch, when non-magical healing is called for.

He has a natural affinity for necromancy that could potentially be very powerful (a gift exploited by the Desire demon that possessed him all those years ago), though of course he hasn't explored this, and it's entirely untrained at this juncture.

As for weaknesses, he'll probably never be particularly good at offensive magic (he's lousy at most brands of elemental spell-casting, though he can manage a weak lightning bolt if pressed). He's laughable with a sword, though that's not unusual for a mage. Socially he's rather shy and reluctant to put himself forward.

Inventory

A staff, the sort common among Ferelden Circle mages. The robes on his back. What few books and herbal supplies he could stuff in a pack. A few childhood mementos of personal value but no particular practical use.

Motivation

Other parts of the app probably covered this. Faith, some measure of desperation, and a yearning to be part of something bigger than himself.

SAMPLES

Please provide 2 samples. It doesn't matter if they're written or linked and we don't care if you prefer brackets or normal punctuation, but at least one must take place in the game world, and at least one must be a log rather than network tags (or their setting-appropriate equivalent). They can be of any length, as long as they provide a sense of your character's voice and internal narrative. If we feel they aren't sufficient, we'll ask you for more.

1. A letter, written to Lady Isolde Guerrin:

Mother,
I know not if word of the disaster at Haven has come to you yet. If so, fear not, I'm alive. I'm remaining with the Inquisition. While I can't say if the Herald was truly touched by Andraste or not, at least the cause here seems to be one of peace, and welfare to the common people. Rather than whatever madness my former Circle fellows might have turned to without it. I pray you are well in Denerim. Give my love to Father, and tell him that I will try to make him proud, insofar as I'm able.
Your faithful son,
Connor

2. An excerpt from the march through the mountains to Skyhold:

The cold was bitter, unrelenting after days of trudging through the snow, the wind biting through what protection the fur lining of Connor's robes gave him. He forced himself not to stop. He could feel the shaking in his knees each time he slowed and knew, if he paused to rest, he'd like as not never be able to get up again. He could still see other figures marching ahead of him, and so he followed numbly. The dim outlines of other men and women the only guides he had. Where they were going, he had no idea. The Herald was dead. Perhaps no one had any idea where they were going. Still, he kept on. What other choices were left for him?
